Thorntons Investment Management Limited has been provided with funding to support the acquisitions of Matheson Financial Consulting Limited and Sonas Wealth Management Limited by leading alternative finance provider for mid-sized SMEs, ThinCats.

Thorntons Investment Management is an Independent Financial Advisor providing a range of wealth and asset management services to high net worth individuals and corporate clients, specialising in investment management and wealth planning.

The company was set up in 1995 and today has significant Assets Under Management. Thorntons has offices in both Dundee and Edinburgh, with the acquisition of Matheson Financial Consulting seeing their services extend to Aberdeen.

As a growing and progressive company, Thorntons sought complementary Wealth & Asset Management businesses to build its offering, with Matheson Financial Consulting and Sonas Wealth Management Limited supporting the business growth strategy.

Stephen Webster, CEO, Thorntons Investment Management, says: “We are pursuing an ambitious growth trajectory, and these acquisitions take us well on our way to achieving our goals. The team at ThinCats are committed to supporting mid-sized enterprises like us and have demonstrated a deep understanding of this section of the market and their funding needs. We are very much looking forward to our next stage.”

Stuart Thompson, Director, Regional Business Development, ThinCats, says: “Businesses like Thorntons are a prime example of those that ThinCats specialises in supporting – dynamic, ambitious companies with an experienced and progressive management team.  It will be rewarding to see the success of this and future acquisitions, and we wish them all the very best.”
