By changing how mobile advertising works on iPhones and iPads in iOS 14.5, Apple kicked off a wave of mergers and acquisitions that has now led to two top-ten independent mobile ad networks combining forces.
Of course, it helps that they are both majority owned by the same private equity firm, Blackstone. And that there’s a perfect storm of cheap capital and massive mobile usage surge in addition to the privacy changes Apple delivered.
No financial details were disclosed, but Liftoff delivers more than two billion ads every day across more than half a million apps. Vungle operates a massive platform that enables over 100,000 mobile app developers and publishers to monetize their apps, and offers an influencer marketing platform — that it just bought — with more than 15,000 creators and influencers on board.
