Index Ventures has a new $3 billion pool of capital to play with.
The San Francisco venture firm raised the money for three new investment vehicles. Some $2 billion will go into a growth-stage fund, $900 million into an early-stage one and $200 million into a seed-stage fund.
The new pool of cash is the largest amount ever raised in one go by Index. The successful fundraising comes only a year after the firm garnered $2 billion all at once, $1.2 billion of it for a growth-stage fund and an $800 million for an early-stage one.
Index’s fundraising comes amid a flood of new money surging into the venture industry. Venture firms raised $74.1 billion in new capital in the first half of the year, according to a report issued by PitchBook Data and the National Venture Capital Association earlier this month.
