EQT has acquired European life sciences venture capital firm LSP (Life Science Partners) for €450m. The Swedish private equity firm said the deal will comprise 25% cash and 75% new EQT AB publicly-traded shares, with a potential additional earn-out payment of €25m.
Founded in 1998, LSP has since invested in over 150 life sciences companies and it currently has €2.2bn of assets under management (AUM). Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, LSP describes itself as a venture capital firm that invests in companies with “strong scientific and clinical rationale across several life sciences strategies”.
Its funds include the LSP Dementia Fund, which invests in companies targeting neurodegenerative diseases, and the LSP Health Economics Fund, which focuses on private late-stage medical technology companies.
